The Nina Lee Portobello Trousers (Neon Neppy)

Finally, I have begun to make trousers. Me Made May definitely highlighted a gap in my sewing - trousers. I will quite happily sew up shirts and tee-shirts but when it comes to trousers, I have the fear a little bit. Which is silly, right? I mean, I've made jeans!! I think it's because of the fit, I have a small waist but wide hips and larger thighs so making trousers generally means having to make adjustments to fit them.  Not with the Nina Lee Portobellos though!

The Portobello trousers is a great pattern. These are a very flattering wide leg pant and a fairly quick sew too! I made these from the Robert Kaufman neon neppy chambray from Sew Me Sunshine which is, unfortunately, now sold out in their shop. It has these lovely green and pink neon flecks in the fabric which just makes it look that little bit extra special.

The fastening is an invisible zip (and button) at the back, which allows for the front pleats to become a lovely feature. The trousers also have darts at the back. And pockets, an essential for me, of course.

I absolutely love these trousers. I get so many lovely comments when I wear them. I already have another pair cut out in Atelier Brunette cotton cambric ready to sew.
